KV-POP Board of Directors
Directors hold two year terms; these terms are staggered so that there will always be continuity in leadership.
Bridget Thomas is a founder of KV-POP, and is currently serving as the group’s President. She has been a resident of Kirksville since 1998. She works at Truman State University as a Professor of Classics and Director of Interdisciplinary Studies. Bridget was an active volunteer and board member for the Adair County Humane Society from 2007-2013; she organized the very successful March “Prevent a Litter” Campaigns (2010-2013) which resulted in over 700 animals being fixed. She is experienced in writing grant applications and knowledgeable about animal welfare issues in our area. She was a community blogger on animal welfare topics (“Paws to Consider”) for the Kirksville Daily Express. Bridget shares her home with her partner, Alex, and an adopted dog named Greta.
Michelle Prewitt was elected to the KV-POP board at the September 2017 annual meeting. Mary Sims joined the board in 2021. Past Directors: Sherri Palmer, Vice President 2013-2015. Co-Founder. Claire Peckosh currently serves as Vice President (Outreach) for KV-POP. She has been a resident of Adair County since 1974. She is currently self-employed as a market gardener (Claire’s Garden). Claire has 20 years’ experience as a business owner (Sugar Creek Nursery on S. Boundary St., before Hy-Vee purchase): she is knowledgeable about financial aspects and needs of small businesses and organizations. She has connections to other business owners and members of the community throughout the county. Claire brings a no-nonsense, rural perspective to our discussions and decision-making. Claire currently shares her farm with two rescued dogs.
