Fewer Homeless Dogs and Cats

Spay/Neuter Application
Picture
CAN WE HELP? This online application is the best way for clients to request spay/neuter assistance. Otherwise, Facebook Messenger and email (info@kv-pop.org) are our preferred methods of communication. We are an all-volunteer organization; we are unable to keep up with voice mail.

Our mission is primarily spay/neuter (population control). We are not able to respond to requests for emergency veterinary care. Please contact a local veterinary clinic for all medical questions.

Our News:

1. Thanks to the Missouri State Humane Society (MoSHA) for awarding KV-POP a 2020 "I'm Pet Friendly" grant! This $2500 grant will fully fund 100 spay/neuter coupons. Want to put this on your car? Individuals can support MoSHA by making a donation and gettting their very own I'M PET FRIENDLY license plate!

2. In response to the economic challenges of this pandemic, KV-POP held a special online Labor Day spay/neuter coupon giveaway. Folks who needed spay/neuter assistance FAST were invited to complete a special online form. We mailed the coupons to home addresses within the week. This was a socially distanced way for KV-POP to help people help their animals.

This promotion started at 8:00 AM on Labor Day (9/7/2020) and continued until all 200 coupons were given away. Forms were processed in the order that they were received.

*Supplies were limited. Limit two per household.
*Coupons expire the day before Thanksgiving.
*KV-POP serves Kirksville, Missouri and the rural area within 30 miles of its city center. We do NOT send coupons to any address located more than 30 miles away.

3. Our annual 2020 Spring Spay/Neuter Campaign was another big success!
72 cats and dogs in NE Missouri were fixed at local clinics with help from KV-POP!

We love helping our neighbors prevent unplanned pregnancies and reduce the number of unwanted kittens and puppies in our area. We are proud of the many people who fixed their pets this spring! Good job!
Thanks to local veterinarians for helping this community
protect our pets!

4. Thanks to Kirksville Motor Company and Toyota for offering a generous $5,000 prize to a local non-profit. We are so glad that the best corn hole players in town -- Two Left Feet (Tony and Jaden) -- decided to award this prize to KV-POP! This money will help KV-POP fix about 100 dogs and cats in NEMO!

KV-POP (Kirksville - Protect Our Pets) is dedicated to community outreach for the benefit of the area's pet dogs and cats.

KV-POP promotes
  • spay/neuter of dogs and cats in the Kirksville area (rural northeast Missouri) to prevent unwanted litters
  • proper care and training of pets so that they are healthy and well-behaved
  • the use of city licenses, tags, and microchips to help lost pets get home again
  • adoption (forever homes) from either of the two rescue groups in town
  • other strategies to cut down on the number of homeless pets in our area

Our efforts complement the work of the other two animal welfare groups in town, the Adair County Humane Society and Field of Dreams Rescue. While they provide temporary shelter for the many, many homeless dogs and cats in our area, our aim is to lower the number of animals in need of sheltering by helping people care for their pets.
